As a church family that seeks to equip and send people to do Kingdom work in the broader community we view the work of our people as an extension of the work of our church. We join the folks among us who have taken up a cause in the community by volunteering to help in their work, by giving financially to their causes, and by encouraging them along the way. If you’d like to get involved with any of these causes, contact the folks who are championing the cause on our behalf. If you’d like to champion a cause about which you feel passionate, contact Jacob to talk about how the Wellspring family might rally around you.

The Chavara Family – Young Life of West Volusia
Jason and Casey Chavara have given their lives to helping young people encounter Jesus through the ministry of Young Life. Jason is the Area Director of Young Life of West Volusia. The ministry includes “clubs” that reach out to students at DeLand high school, St Barnabas Episcopal, and Stetson University with plans to expand to Southwestern middle school and University High School over the next few years. Jason and Casey serve with passion both at Wellspring and through their vocational ministry with Young Life. We’re happy to have them serve around Wellspring in whatever way they can and wholeheartedly support them as they reach out to young folks in our community.

Katie Haughwout – World Race
Katie was an integral member of the plant team for Wellspring and has been involved at every step along the way our of growth. In August 2017 Katie will embark on a journey to 11 countries in 11 months to serve in Christian ministries around the world. She has a heart to see people come to know Jesus and to see his Spirit change their lives. We’re proud to send and support Katie on this journey and can’t wait to see what God does with her along the way. Follow Katie’s journey on her blog.

Stephanie Sanders – Interfaith Kitchen
Stephanie coordinates our church’s efforts to help feed the hungry and homeless in our surrounding community. Every couple of months she organizes our efforts to serve at the Interfaith Kitchen in downtown DeLand. She sets the date and shops for the food. Then, during the event, she’s the captain of the kitchen, directing folks where to go and equipping us all to serve well. We’re grateful for how Stephanie sets up the rest of us well to serve selfless in our community.

Tom Wilt – Boys & Girls Clubs of Volusia/Flagler Counties
Tom serves on the Board of Directors for Boys & Girls Clubs of Volusia and Flagler counties. If you get Tom talking, he’ll tell you about how Boys & Girls Clubs do more than just about any other agency in America to help kids avoid delinquency and succeed in life. He visits several of the clubs across the two-county area to help make sure that staff have what they need and kids are having fun. We’re proud of how Tom represents Wellspring and the Kingdom of God in our community by serving with this awesome social service organization.
